Technology Enabled Learning (TeL) portal to give a new dimension to the present mode of imparting quality education to its distance learning students. Tel will be part of a hybrid system of learning that will also include SLM in the print form, face to face lectures and value added VSAT sessions.
Within TeL portal after logging in, a student can access study materials in the form of an e-workbook with value-added components, attempt quizzes related to his study curriculum interactively, ask questions in the Discussion groups related to his subject of study and will get the reply also either from the LC faculties or the SMU core faculties just sitting in the comfort of his own drawing room. The portal is for bridging the gap between the students and the SMU Head-quarter faculties, for transferring the knowledge of the core-faculties directly to all students, for increasing the interaction between the LC faculties as well as core-faculties and above all for imparting quality education in a more productive way. It is an initiative to truly spread knowledge of different LC Faculties among all the students of different LCs spread all over India. This venture has been undertaken to employ the experience and knowledge of all the LC and core-faculties to give all SMU distant learning students enrolled in LCs spread all over India a taste of quality education in a uniform way. It is also an enterprise to reduce distances among the students enrolled in different SMU LCs and to give them a taste of being part of the huge SMU family.
TEL is a conceptual implementation of SMU which reduces lots of constraints of distant education. Generally distance education does not provide any platform for interaction between students and faculties. On the contrary SMU has provided a platform named TEL(Technology Enabled Learning) where this facility has been given to all students and faculties all over India to interact amongst them.
Students are facilitated through:
SLMs, Model Question Papers, Exercises, Quiz, etc. Students are also provided with a chat corner through which they can participate in different discussions and problem solving procedure with other SMU students and faculties all over India. Through this they can directly interact with SMU faculties and also different LC faculties.
Faculties are facilitated through:
Like students faculties also have faculty corner from where they can take part in discussions, exchange their views, clear their doubts and upgrade themselves. And can also reply to student's doubts. |
